Pimp my black scarf

Hey hey ladies,

I love the colorful headscarfs, but sometimes my outfit is already colorful so i just wear a black headscarf. To me that's kinda boring, so herewith some idea's to "pimp" it!

Headbands:

Different hijab styles

Hey ladies!

Yesterday i tried a few new hijab styles. Hope you like it!

These both styles are both made with a circle (round) scarf.

As you can see the back of my head ain't flat, i tie my hair together. Not just that, i also use a "donut" to make it bigger and make the hijab further away from the back of my head. I do it in this way:

I tie my hair in a pony tail and put it inside the donut. After this, i wrap my hair around the donut and put an elastic around it. Finished! Now you are ready to wrap :D

And by the way, do not forget to wear an inner neck or a high neck shirt so you cover your neck with the "opened" hijab styles!

Malaysia, Singapore, my friend and me

Malaysia
Last time i ended my blog with me and my friend on our way from Dubai to Malaysia. So herewith part 2 of our great adventure. Just like we flew to Dubai with Emirates we also flew with Emirates from Dubai to Malaysia. I don't exactly remember how long the flight took but i guess it was about 7 hours. Again we had great (and much!!!) food and after watching 2 bollywood movies (they take about 3 till 4 hours) we were ready for landing. We saw the country coming closer and closer, what a difference between Dubai and Malaysia! Everywhere you look there is green! Trees, flowers etc. From a high distance it could even be Holland but then a bit greener! I already saw myself making long walks (eventhough i'm pretty lazy..). When we got out of the airport it was very very very hot and not only that it was like i walked into a steamy shower, it was really humid. While driving to our hotel i saw the great nature and i was so excited to spend here our 3,5 week. Malacca, where we stayed in a very small hotel called Puri Malacca, it was located very close to Jonker Walk where there is market in the evenings. So me and my friend decided to go see the market.
Malaysia, street

When we arrived we saw little tables with all kind of stuff on it: clothes, Angry Birds puppets and a lot of food. The smell that came from the food and the street was awful and when we heard a man singing karaoke i kinda started to dislike Malaysia. It was smelly, i didn't like the food, the people sing very bad and they even do it on the street. And above all the streets are dirty and it is so humid that i just wanna take a shower every second. I decided to stay positive and have a good night of sleep.

Next day we had a trishaw ride. It is a bike which is decorated with flowers, plastic animals and more crazy stuff. Every bike got a radio which plays Malay music very loud and a man that cycles. So no, you don't have the cycle, you can just sit, relax, and enjoy the surrounding (and great music).

After the trishaw bike tour we had a tour by foot. We went to a shop where they sell chinese shoes. Years ago the Chinese men had the idea that very small feet is sexy, so many women were making their feet smaller and wearing very small shoes. They were as big as my hand or sometimes even smaller! Luckily it is not legal anymore, the women who had it years ago are unfortunately almost not able to walk anymore.

After this we went to a museum about Islam. Most of the inhabitants of Malaysia are Muslim. It was very interesting to see. There were dolls wearing typical Malaysian muslim clothes, golden Quran's and great Islamic art.

Then we had to hurry to catch the bus to Shah Alam where we would meet Malaysian students! We went to a Steamboat restaurant. Then you have a table with a hole in the middle with a bucket in it. The bucket got hot spiced boullion where you have to prepare your food in. At a large table full of food you could pick whatever you wanted: chicken's heart, liver, ink-fish, ink-fish rings and all other kinds of seafood. We kinda had to get used to it because that's soooo not comparable to our Dutch food. After eating a bit our fellow student (every 2 persons had 1 Malaysian student to hang around with the next day) Nurul came to our table to talk. She was a very sweet, hijab wearing, girl with a big smile on her face.

In the evening Nurul and her friends and me and my friend decided to go to I-city. We were not allowed to go with only girls so some of our male students went with us. I-city is a place where they haave tree's made of light, it is beautiful!
I-City Malaysia

Also they have an indoor snow and ice hall! After looking around for a few hours Nurul and her friends came back by scooter. They asked or we wanted a ride back to our hotel. OFFCOURSE WE DO! So there we go 2 girls on the back of the scooter with our fellow Malaysian students touring through Malaysia! What a great experience!
Malaysia

Next day our fellow students prepared a great meal for us and gave us presents!
So sweet, really, Malaysian people are soooo kind! After it Nurul brought me and my friend to the Mosque of Shah Alam, beautiful mosque! After the visit we said goodbye to our fellow student because we were going to Kuala Lumpur!
Shah Alam, blue mosque

Kuala Lumpur... what can i say about it? I don't like the city and after the 3,5 week i really started to hate the place. It's smelly, warm, busy, dirty.. In the evening we had a meal in a restaurant in Kuala Lumpur with all my class mates from Holland. And after that night.. it was just me and my friend.
Bye teachers, by classmates, hello backpack and hello best friend. Hello first hostel, it was very very very small we slept on stones with a small blanket on it. Me, my friend and our backpacks barely fitted in the room.
Kuala Lumpur

Next morning we went to Taman Negara by a mini bus. Me and my friend never get sick in a bus but this time we did. The trip took about 5 hours. After the greaaat (ahum..) bus trip we arrived at the boat. A very small wooden boat.

There our jungle tour started. The boat trip took about 3 hours till we arrived at Taman Negara. We walked to our resort (it was called a resort but it wasn't for sure!). The next morning me and my friend decided to go for a Canopy walk (walking on a small wooden bridge from tree to tree) I am very very very very afraid of hights so while my friend was looking down to the great view, all i could do was thinking: your almost there, almost there Michelle. I was shaking so i decided to sing a dutch song: Today i am so happy, so happy, so happy. And yes i was happy when we finished the walk! Then we went for a jungle tour, the guide told us to take care of the leeches. Leeches?! Oh great, pants in our socks and let's do this! Wauw.. the jungle it is great! The smell, the sound of the animals and insects. It really is beautiful! It almost doesn't look real!
Canopy walk Malaysia

Next day we went to Terengganu, a small city at the east of Malaysia. There we washed our clothes and went to a small bounty island by boat. When we arrived at the beautiful beach it was like a tv commercial. Very very very blue water and white sand. And that's not all there was NO ONE on the island!

After this small city we visited a few more cities. In one city we even ate Arabian food (i already only ate Mc Donalds for weeks because the Malaysian food is not really the kind of food i like) I ate so much. After weeks of Mc Donalds imagine eating your favorite food. It was like heaven! Then we went to a place called Butterworth, there was not much to do. Only a bird park. You have to know i am scared to death for birds but there was nothing left to do in this village. So we decided to go there. When you go to a park in holland most of the big and scary birds are in cages. Well, in Malaysia they are NOT. After a lot of yelling and many beautiful pictures we went to the trainstation. There we would go by train to Singapore. After being in the very very very hot train for a half day the people said the airco didn't work.. as if we didn't notice yet. So halfway they putted us in another train. There was a tv with dvd player in the train. But after seeing Badman returns for 3 times we kinda got bored so we decided to sing along with our MP3 player. After a while kids joined us and before we knew it we arrived in Woodland, where they checked our passports. After a train trip of 13 hours we finally arrived in Singapore (without chewing gum, because that is prohibited). We found out it is impossible to get a taxi in Singapore! So we decided to walk to our hostel. When we arrived there we found out we had to sleep with 28 other people (great..) and pay alot. Singapore is a very expensive city. But we had to sleep so okay here we go.

After a good night of sleep (with 28 other people) we went to the Singapore zoo. Awhhh i felt like a little kid again! White lions and much more, beautiful! In the evening my catholic friend went to church and i went to eat at Mc Donalds (yes, again) Singapore is a very modern, beautiful country and very very very clean!

The day after we went to Universal Studios, we had so much fun! The mummy returns rollercoaster, Jurassic parc slide, Sherk, we spend a great time! And after sleeping with 28 people again (last time, yeayy!) we said goodbye to Singapore and Hello to Sibu island. On this very white beach (without internet or telephone provider) we slept in an A-framed little house which was opened on the sides (hello insects!). On this island we did nothing but rest, enjoying the view and swimming. Oh, and enjoying (not) all the insects. The next day we went back to Kuala Lumpur in 6 hour car drive.

In Kuala Lumpur we slept again in our dirty hostel where we already slept many times (other hostels were full)

As i said before, i hate Kuala Lumpur, so i was happy we went to Cameron Highlands the next day. Cameron Highlands have tea plantations, strawberry plantations, and a tropical rainforest. It was much colder in this rainforest, it was very misty and the trees were covered with moss. This made it look kinda creapy, but still very pretty! The strawberries mixed with chocolate and ice crem were great! In the evening we hired a dvd, we didn't watch tv for a long time, it was very nice!

Next day we went back to Kuala Lumpur (again!) and slept in the same dirty hostel for like the 7th time. It started to be our second home.. The dirt that was in the blankets about 3 weeks ago was still in it.. great! Next day we went to a parc by train. The train had a WOMEN ONLY section! Great! It was totally pink from inside with flowers and very clean. Wish we had a WOMEN ONLY section in the trains in Holland too!

The last night we spend in a very nice hotel called City hotel, finally a nice shower after all these weeks! We went shopping and we bought so much we needed a suitcase for our bought stuff. Next day it was time to go back to Holland where my parents and my friends boyfriend were waiting for us after a very long but great month!

Bye bye Malaysia, it was a great adventure and i hope to see you soon again!

Bye, bye i am not going to miss you!

How to be a succesful muslim woman

1. Be the best wife you can be. Being a good Muslim wife is in many ways similar to being a good wife in other religions. Sure it has its own special features and requirements, just like any other religion. However, there are common basic methods and guidelines for being a good wife in general. Follow them.
2. Make Dua. Always ask Allah for forgiveness and blessings on your marriage.3
3. Understand and respect your husband's rights. Study authentic ahaadith and make sure that you understand your obligations as a wife as well as understand your rights. In Islam, a good wife is expected to be honest, sincere and congnizant of her husband's needs. At the same time her husband must respect her, fulfill her needs and even help her in household chores.

4. Be secure to yourself, getting yourself down in front of him is another way of insulting his taste in women. If he is with you, it's because he wants to be. He will find you sexy even if you don't feel like it, if you act the part. Remember that attitude and willingness are large parts of being sexy. Poor self-esteem and a "void" in your life is terrible for marriage. Make sure you still have a fun and interesting life. If your husband left tomorrow, would you still have girlfriends you see at least once a month, hobby clubs you go to, sports you play? If not, your husband will always be working to fill a void he can't, and will feel inadequate and unhappy.

5. Express, don't accuse except in the rare event that your husband happens to be psychic, don't expect mind-reading powers. If you want something, ask. If something is wrong, say so. Don't drop hints or figure he'll "come around". Communicate calmly and directly. Relationships work best when each partner calmly express their current emotion without harping on what he has done. Frequently, a "I feel attacked" or "I feel sad" is all it takes for him to step back and ask, "Why?" Then simply say, "When you slammed the door, I felt ignored." Let "I feel" be your guide.
6. Don't expect the moon. He needs to keep trying, you need to keep trying, but neither of you is perfect. Unmet expectations tend to frustrate everyone. However, if you both keep working on your marriage, you will always be covered, even when one of you comes up a little short. If your expectations are truly too high or unrealistic, then set standards that are obtainable. For example, it is unfair to expect to be lavished with possessions and have the love of your life home for every meal. Should you want more together time, be prepared to have that desire fulfilled at some expense.
7. Pick your battles. Nagging and nitpicking can destroy a relationship. As long as the dishes are clean and unbroken, for instance, don't nag about how to load the dishwasher "the right way". Let him do things his own way. Don't sweat the small stuff. Focus on what is important
8. Accept him. Only by accepting him as he is, do you have such deep respect and gratitude for him that you would never want him to change in any way for you. He has so much to offer you if only you give him the space to be himself. He is a growing individual, just like you are. Help him grow in the direction that he chooses, and give him the chance to help you.
9. Dress pleasantly/attractively.If you are a home-maker,don’t stay in your sleeping suit all day.Behave like a female, i.e. all the tenderness of a female.
10. Race to the door when he comes home, as if you were waiting for him. Smile, hug and kiss him.

11. Stay with him during hard time. He will need his wife to listen to him, comfort him and give him the strength. Don't be selfish.

Dubai!!!

Long time ago since i posted. I'm just still veeery busy with school. Unfortunately i won't make it in August as i planned. Today i found out it's almost a year ago since i went to Dubai. Good reason for me to finally write about it! I guess it will be a long story with alot of pictures.
Dubai
It never came on my mind to go to Dubai but after seeing programmes about the buildings in Dubai on tv i felt like i needed to go there. Then last year when i was in third grade of University we went to Dubai. Yes, you read it right, i went to Dubai with school! (how amazing!) In May last year we flew with Emirates directly to Dubai. During the landing i already saw the amazing Burj Khalifa (tallest building in the earth!) and lots and lots and lots of desert. The flight took about 6 hours but with a personal tv with Tamer Hosny music and delicious food it was like i just got into the airplane when we already landed! As soon as i got out of the airplane there was a welcome sign: Welcome to Dubai.
Food on Emirates airplaneWelcome to Dubai
1. The great food on the airplane
2. Welcome to Dubai!

After getting a stamp in my passport (expected it to be great and beautiful as everything in Dubai, in reality you almost can't see it in my passport) we took a bus to our hotel. To quickly dumb our backpacks and go see Dubai! First we went to go see the Aquarius hotel, sleeping here is very expensive so we only went to SEE it unfortunately.
Hotel Aquarius, Dubai
Hotel Aquarius from outside. I made this picture while being in a train!
Hotel Aquarius, Dubai
The hotel from inside. It is even bigger then this with beautiful fishes! Amazing!

Hotel Aquarius, Dubai
Entrance hall (turn your head haha) This statue is totally handmade with glass. Nevermind the crazy puppet in the front, my friend was being crazy.
The next day me and the rest of my schoolmates had an A-MA-ZING desert safari. Experience to never forget!
Dubai desert
Dubai desert. The trip was amazing i was totally shaked and we screamed alot from fun. The driver was south african so the radio was playing south african music the whole trip. Like we were in a south african safari! After the trip we went to eat in a Bedouin place in the middle of the desert. Arabian food, i adore it! While having dinner there was a woman belly dancing. She wasn't really good but there were also 2 women making henna and ofcourse i wanted to have henna on my hand!
Dubai food
On our way back we travelled on a normal road (Alhamdulillah) if they didn't for sure my food wouldn't stay in it's place!
Next day in the morning me and my friend went to burj al Khalifa, the highest building in the world! This building is 828 m. high! It was also pretty hard to get it on camera! Me and my friend went all the way up to the observation deck. From level 1 to level 122 in 1 minute by elevator!
Burj al Khalifa
As you can see it almost didn't fit on camera!
Burj al Khalifa view
The amazing view! (As you can see on the left there is "the world" made of islands!)
Furthermore, me and my friend went to the Ibn batutta mall. A beautiful, big mall. Every part of the mall is made in a different style: Egypt, Persian, Chinese etc. It's really a must visit!

In the evening we saw the great fountain, also the biggest in the world. It was so beautiful, romantic, perfect, it gave me goose bumbs and tears in my eyes. (Must watch on youtube!) Next day we went to a very luxurious hotel with my school. There even was a Skihall inside the hotel! Like seriously?? Isn't that insane?
Ski hall inside the hotel
After this me and my friend decided to go to a "bazaar" an old Arabian market, to shop. But we found out that Dubai is a really "new-made" country so we couldn't find any. We went to a very luxurious (and expensive) one and bought some souvenirs for family and friends back home. After this it was finally time to go to burj al Arab (only 7-star hotel in the world!)
Burj al Arab
When we arrived at the start of the road to the hotel we had to show papers that we were allowed to enter. A train was coming to pick us up. But me and my friend are very active so we went walking. Everybody was shocked cause no one ever walks! (its about 3-5 mins to get there haha) We were very excited to enter. Didn't had time to shower cause of the busy day, our hair was messed up and so were our "out of the backpack-clothes". People kept asking or we had papers to enter. YES PEOPLE WE DO! Then we went upstairs for our high tea (50 euro's per person booked on internet, totally worth the money!)

Food burj al Arab
It was great! Great food, great drinks and O MY GOD beautiful building! The employees were amazing and did everything to make this a great experience! We are both, poor, students and out of nothing soaked in luxury. For the other people there it was normal but we kept making pictures and laughing!

After this great trip it was time for me and my friend to catch the train on to our next experience: MALAYSIA! (more about that next time)

Dubai
Bye bye Dubai, inshAllah i get back soon! But with my love!
